In the attention economy, most content in the digital space barely outlives a swipe. Glimpsed for a second as a thumbnail, then gone. But when a global sensation like KATSEYE stuns on the cover of Allure Philippines, you should take it from the crowd: it’s not something you would want to scroll past.

Allure Philippines held its ground and doubled down at the Allure Beauty Lab last weekend. Walking up to the entrance of SMX Convention Center at SM Aura stood five larger-than-life covers of Volume 4 stars KATSEYE—Sophia, Lara, Yoonchae, Megan and Daniela, in all their bleached brow and polka-dotted lips to the fullest scale—and there was no way of scrolling past them.

It didn’t take long for the newest issue of Allure Philippines to become the thing everyone wanted at the first-ever Allure Beauty Lab. And as guests will tell you, KATSEYE was only half the reason. Flipping through the magazine, industry names like Jigs Mayuga, Jones Palteng and Alex Javier kept coming back to the same conclusion: print, even today, carries a permanence that digital content cannot replicate. Guests also described the issue as one of a collectible; with some already planning to complete all five KATSEYE covers, while others pointed to the joy of simply holding a magazine, having it on display and revisiting its pages years from now.

Beyond the covers, guests celebrated seeing local creatives, founders, makeup artists, and brands featured throughout the issue. For many contributors, spotting their own work in print made the magazine feel even more meaningful. Read what they had to say here:

What was your first reaction to the cover featuring KATSEYE?

Jones Palteng, stylist

Honestly, it’s a really good cover. I was so impressed with how Allure Philippines was able to do this. As someone coming from publishing—this is an amazing feat, bringing KATSEYE to the cover. It just shows that Allure Philippines is a global magazine.

Jigs Mayuga, professional makeup artist

I love KATSEYE! So I love that they’re on the cover—it celebrates diversity and beauty, because these girls come from different backgrounds and different parts of the globe. They represent different types of beauty, so it’s great. I love their music.

Alex Javier, founder of Dala

I was so excited! I was so excited because I love KATSEYE so much. I love their music, I love what they represent. And I love Sophia. She’s what I got on the cover.

Habie Mondido, model

DI. VA! I love Lara, I got her. She’s so pretty.

Evan Tan, content creator & model

It’s really exciting! I think it’s my first time seeing them here in Allure Philippines. It’s nice to see them dressed up really uniquely. That’s what caught my eye.

Rachel Ang, co-founder of The Sun People

I found it so cute! I love that everyone has their own personality and their own looks, and I love how playful it all was.

What do you love about print magazines?

LA Aguinaldo, content creator & model

I think we have that sense of ownership, and just the sense of having it in your hands. It’s just so different and it becomes more personal. And you just absorb it through your eyes more and through your lives more, because it’s something you can always pick up. It’s also something that you can bring with you no matter where you are.

Rachel Ang, co-founder of The Sun People

Just the entire experience and the aspiration of it. I think we all need to be offline for a while and the magazine gives us that experience.

Kenric Carpio, makeup artist

Something that I love about print magazines is it’s already there. It’s like a blueprint. You can’t take it out of the history of the art and beauty industry. It’s forever!

Alex Javier, founder of Dala

In general, it’s a tangible form of beauty—it’s like the [beauty] bible. I love it!

Mizz Raffy Mendiola, makeup artist

I think that print is amazing because we get to see our names, we’re able to hold it. We’re able to feel it physically versus seeing it on our phones only.

Why should people buy this issue?

Alex Javier, founder of Dala

You guys should buy this issue because it’s such a tangible and nice collectible. It represents global beauty, it represents F-beauty in global form.

Carlos Yulo, two-time Olympic medalist and three-time World Champion

For me, all the trends are here. Fashion, beauty, and aesthetic.

Rachel Ang, co-founder of The Sun People

The magazine features a lot of local founders and a lot of cool brands as well, so you better check it out!

Habbie Mondido, model

They should buy it because Allure Philippines shares great stories and great advice that all of us would love.

LA Aguinaldo, content creator & model

It’s Katseye. Need I say more?

Mizz Raffy, makeup artist

Because it’s collectible—we can get all of them. We should get all five!

Will you keep this as a collectible?

Jigs Mayuga, makeup artist

Of course. I have all of the previous issues [of Allure Philippines] at home. I come from the era of print because I started makeup in the era of print in the 2000s, so print will always resonate with me. I like sitting down and browsing through the pages of the magazine, and I love the smell of newly printed pages.

Jones Palteng, stylist

Oh, definitely. I truly feel that print magazines are something worth collecting nowadays, and it’s great to have something tangible aside from social media and digital content.

Kenric Carpio, makeup artist

I actually would love to get all of them. Like each of the KATSEYE members, they’re super cute. I’d put it on my wall. And of course, representation! All the creatives, all the beauty news—you can get all the information here.

Who do you want to see next for the cover?

Jones Palteng, stylist

That’s a good question. We’ve done Bretman [Rock], we’ve done Heart [Evangelista], we’ve done Pinoy Big Brother, we’ve done Nadine [Lustre]. You know, I want to see Olivia Rodrigo on the next cover of Allure Philippines, so make it happen.

LA Aguinaldo, content creator & model

Good question! Maybe it’d be interesting to see a guy on the cover of the next Allure Philippines cover, just to shake things up.

Habie Mondido, model

I want to see more icons. Well, one of the icons that I really look up to is Catriona Gray. I would really love it if Allure Philippines would have her on cover.

Evan Tan, content creator & model

Blackpink. Dream big. I’ll buy Jisoo!

Kenric Carpio, makeup artist

Zara Larsson, girl! Dream big.

Mizz Raffy Mendiola, makeup artist

I want to see Tyla!

Jigs Mayuga, makeup artist

Since we’re talking about diversity and inclusivity, I think Madonna should be on the cover, because she just came out with a rockin’ album, and she’s almost 70 and I love it!

Alex Javier, founder of Dala

BINI! I would love to see BINI on the cover. They deserve this, too.
