Camille Co-Koro Used to Do Full Glam Every Day. Here’s What’s Changed
The longtime fashion and lifestyle creator reveals why she traded smokey eyes, lash extensions, and a multi-step routine for simpler makeup and skin care.
Life has a way of rewriting everything—including your relationship with beauty and your own reflection. For fashion and lifestyle content creator Camille Co-Koro, that meant trading in smokey eyes, thick liner, and lash extensions for something she never thought she’d choose: less.
Her routine evolved from “more is more” to just the essentials—stripped down not out of laziness, but out of finally knowing herself. In an exclusive interview with Allure Philippines, Co-Koro walks us through how her beauty routine transformed through the years and why simple now feels like the most honest version of glam, on her own terms.
Her pre-motherhood beauty uniform: smokey eyes, thick liner, and full glam
Before she became a mother to two girls, Co-Koro’s approach to beauty followed a simple rule: “more is more.” This was especially true when it came to her makeup routine—but a little less so with skin care, though that too saw its fair share of experimentation.
Smokey eye makeup was a given. So were the lash extensions—she preferred using the dramatic ones—paired with eyeliner applied thick and heavy.
Her hair was also styled the same way, done in big curls and bangs—it was a look she never expected to move on from at the time.
Looking back, Co-Koro ties this era to a specific place: self-doubt. “I think my insecurities played a big role,” she shares. “And that’s why I also experimented with skin care so much, because I didn’t really know what I needed or what I wanted. I was very impressionable.”
How motherhood changed everything for her
Her outlook on beauty and skin care changed after childbirth. “I feel like I know myself more. I think that’s a natural progression as you age,” she shares. “Now that I’m a mother, I’ve become more self-aware and more practical with the things I put on myself and the things that I do.”
Part of that shift comes from seeing her daughters watch her, as every daughter looks up to her mother as their first role model. “I’ve also started to become more conscious of what I do in front of my girls, so I want them to see that I’m embracing my natural beauty.” It’s why she came to appreciate cleaner and simpler looks—and why she now gravitates toward more natural colors that work for her skin tone, rather than whatever is trending.
“Unlike before, when you’re younger, whatever’s just uso, that’s what you use,” Co-Koro says. “You don’t really check if it actually suits you or not.”
Camille Co-Koro’s beauty routine, simplified
From the original, multi-step routine she used to follow, Co-Koro has trimmed down her habit to just three simple steps: cleanse, tone, and moisturize. It’s also where the ethos of her beauty brand, CKIN Collective, comes from.
“I think that’s why I came up with my own brand, because I really wanted to find simple ingredients that just work,” she shares. This shift wasn’t just about her preferences—it’s about necessity.
Co-Koro’s skin has become more reactive since becoming a mother, something she attributes to the hormonal changes that followed her pregnancies. “That’s why I’ve become more careful with the ingredients that I put on my skin,” she says.
It’s a move that extends beyond skin care and into her beauty routine, too. “I really can’t be bothered,” Co-Koro admits. “I love beauty. I really do, but I don’t think I have the patience to make my makeup look like it’s flawless.”
This honesty is exactly why she’s leaned further into skin care—the less she needs to cover up, the less makeup she has to put on in the first place. Her beauty routine now? “Eyebrows, nose contour kasi insecurity ko pa rin siya, blush so that there’s color, lip tint, and, if I don’t have lashes, I put mascara on, a little bit of a wing, and that’s it,” she says.
What “self-care beauty” means to Camille Co-Koro now
For Co-Koro, self-care beauty used to mean one thing: skin care. Now, it’s more than that. “I’ve come to realize that in order for you to have healthy skin, you need to have a more holistic approach,” she says.
Self-care is more than just the products she uses—it’s about the time she gives to herself, her “me time.” “Self-care beauty, for me now, is not just doing your skin care, but actually giving yourself the time to de-stress, to relax, and really just to not think of anything,” she shares.
To her, it doesn’t take much time either. “It could be just, like, three, five minutes out of your day, because you just really zone in on yourself and nothing else. You just give yourself that time.”
If there’s one thing Co-Koro’s beauty journey proves, it’s that “less” isn’t temporary—it’s what happens when you finally stop performing for anyone else and start focusing on yourself. From heavy glam to simple confidence, her routine now isn’t about hiding. It’s about giving herself permission to just be truly herself.
