For Plazä’s Fashion Week Asia 2026 show at Palacio de Memoria, designer Anisah Farid’s collection was an exploration of the delicate space between heritage and modernity.

The Malaysian contemporary brand’s ethos revolved around how fashion must accept, embrace, and celebrate diversity. Farid’s collection showcases the contradictions and evolving identities of the modern muse, translating personal and cultural influences into a new design language. It featured opulent brocades, jewel tones, and delicate floral appliques that gave each piece depth and character, while balancing the familiar with the unexpected.

The tension between tradition and reinvention reflected in the beauty looks, where romance became the beauty mood. From copper eyeshadow with speckled gold accents that caught the light to classic burgundy lips with a glossy twist, the beauty looks, created under lead makeup artist Gery Penaso with MAC Cosmetics, move beyond the otherwise predictable gentleness of classic romantic beauty.

The hair followed that same friction between softness and structure. Floral chignons introduced an intricate, almost ornamental quality, while sculptural ribbon buns brought a more architectural appeal to the looks. The hairstyles, brought to life with Cream Silk, balanced the softness of the petals with the precision of angular hair strands, echoing the collection’s appreciation for multi-faceted craftsmanship.

By the end of the show, Plazä’s beauty looks offered a novel interpretation of romantic beauty through contrasts. Whether that’s the juxtaposition of warm hues and metallic accents or the weaving of soft flowers and molded hair knots, Farid’s show proves how the interplay of opposites can bring forth an aesthetic that feels entirely different.

Update your warm bronzy eyeshadow look by using gold accents, which you can add across the inner corner of the eyes. You can also use a gold highlighter and swipe it across the cheeks, or use it to draw abstract lines on the face. Try this on your next night out by mixing warm, matte tones and pressing gold metallic shimmer in the center to add depth and dimension, creating a look that catches the light beautifully at every turn.

Avant-garde buns bring major drama to any look. You can experiment with your rounded bun and transform it into a sculptural bun. But you don’t have to immediately form severe planes and angles in your sections. Start with a sleek base, and twist and pin the lengths into loops, or even fan the edges for a more undone look. Secure the loops with bobby pins and hairspray.

Wine-red lips

A deep burgundy lip is a classic way to bring drama and romance to your look. To achieve a similar effect, grab your burgundy lip liner, fill your lips in with lipstick, then layer with a clear gloss for a glass-like effect. Combined with a layer of lip gloss for a  lacquered sheen, the moody shade, which sits between the classic red and purple, is a total scene-stealer.

Floral chignons

Flowers have always been used as dainty hair accessories, but they can make the look soft, almost juvenile. Contrast it with structural strands and braids for an updo that feels feminine but not too cloying. To achieve a similar effect, you can gather your hair into a bun, or a braided updo, then add floral accents into the chignon by inserting them right into the strands.
