Toton’s Fashion Week Asia 2026 show at Palacio de Memoria reexamined Indonesian traditional dress and craftsmanship through a new perspective on design, borne out of deconstruction.
Founded in Jakarta by Toton Januar and Haryo Balitar, Toton is a womenswear label that draws from Indonesia’s traditions of dress, artisanal techniques, and cultural memory. For Toton, fashion is a medium to communicate, reinterpret the familiar, and create new sources of inspiration.
That belief extended into the beauty looks, where a deliberate approach to makeup and hairstyling complemented the collection’s contemporary vision. The skin base was fresh and dewy, enhanced softly by contourContourA makeup technique that uses a shade slightly deeper than your skin tone to add shadow and structure to the cheekbones, nose, and jawline. Blend carefully and choose an undertoneGo to Contour Glossary for warmth and dimension. Lead makeup artist Gery Penaso worked with MAC Cosmetics to bring out the complexion’s natural radiance and accentuate the lashes with golden glitter and embellishments.
The hairstyles, created with Cream Silk, added an extra statement to the looks. Hair was gathered neatly while loose strands framed the face. For other looks, the rest of the hair was braided in various ways at the back, whether knotted in a bun, or cascading in one huge section. The mix of smooth hair styling, delicate flyaways, and woven braids echoed the collection’s thoughtful approach to details.
For Toton, tradition is something that continues to evolve from chaos. From dewy skin and golden lashes to muted nude lips and textured braids, the looks found distinction not in overt drama, but in the mix of shifting colors, reflective finishes, and nuanced details leading to something new.

Try going light on your foundation and let your natural skin, texture and all, shine through. Finish with a hydrating mist to enhance the skin’s luminous finish.

The understated makeup base was accentuated by custom-made gold glitter eyelashes using Filipino beauty brand Paulash. The delicate yet striking detail brought a luminous, almost ethereal quality to the eyes without overwhelming the rest of the makeup. If you want to draw attention to the face in an unexpected way, think of your lashes as the next feature to play up.

As seen on the show, nude kissers complement a luminous complexion and embellished, fluttery eyelashes. Pair any statement look with a muted shade of nude to pull off a cohesive beauty look. What’s great about a nude hue is that there are many shades that can complement both morena and fair skin tones. Skip the lip gloss for a more natural finish.

Slicked-back hair with braided details combines refined styling and architectural approach. At Toton, the hair was swept away from the face, with delicate flyaways framing the sides. Variations of braided styles cascaded at the back, finished with shells and beaded accessories. The contrast between the smooth silhouette and the loose strands kept the hairstyle from appearing too severe, while the plaits introduced texture and detail.
