This Is Your Sign to Get a Bob: Celebrity-Inspired Styles to Try
If you’ve never taken the plunge with a big chop, consider this the universe talking to you.

Few hairstyles symbolize transformation as powerfully as the bob. From silver-screen makeovers to real-life reinventions, the bob has cemented itself as the go-to haircut for those craving a fresh start.
Remember Basha’s chin-length cut in One More Chance or Calista’s dramatic bob in My Ex and Whys as she delivered the iconic “Kapalit-palit ba ako?” line? The bob has long been a symbol of reinvention, on-screen and off. It’s a timeless classic, one of the first cuts that come to mind when we think of a major style shift.
“It’s one of the cuts that never go out of style,” says Manila-based celebrity hairstylist Jing Monis, whose clients include Megan Young, Angel Aquino, Kaye Abad, Janella Salvador, and Judy Ann Santos. And if you need proof, just look at Juday’s signature bob. “I still get clients asking for that same cut,” Monis shares. “I think it’s because of the shape—it suits a lot of different face types.”
So, which bob style is right for you? Here are some of the best celebrity-inspired bobs to consider for your next chop.
The Graduated Bob on Judy Ann Santos
The graduated bob—also called a stacked bob—is one of the most iconic versions of the cut. Think Victoria Beckham’s signature angled bob: shorter and stacked at the back, gradually lengthening toward the front.
Judy Ann Santos wore this look for years, making it one of the most requested styles in salons even today. “It’s a great choice for those with round faces,” Monis notes. The layers create volume at the back while slimming the face from the front. This is also a good option for those with wavy or curly hair. “When you have wavy or curly hair, it’s always nice to create a graduated bob because it can remove some of the weight on a certain area of your hair,” he says.
The French Bob on Kathryn Bernardo
If you’re after a high-fashion statement, the French bob is the way to go. Typically cut above the jawline (yes, we know—bold move), it’s often paired with bangs for that effortless je ne sais quoi.
Kathryn Bernardo wore a French bob at the ABS-CBN Ball 2023, pairing it with a champagne-colored gown and crystal-draped earrings. The result? Instant 1920s elegance with a modern twist. Done right, this cut is effortlessly cool and timelessly stylish.
The Classic or Blunt Bob on Sarah Geronimo
Minimalist yet sophisticated, the classic blunt bob is all about clean lines. No layers, no asymmetry—just a sharp, straight cut. Sarah Geronimo has embraced this style multiple times.
“This is one of the trendiest styles right now,” Monis says. But he warns that face shape plays a crucial role in pulling it off. “If you have a longer face, you need to avoid creating an elongated effect.”
The Asymmetrical Bob on Michelle Dee
For those who like a little edge, the asymmetrical bob is a bold and stylish option. One side is longer than the other, creating a sleek, diagonal effect. This style is often worn tucked behind one ear on the shorter side, with the longer side left loose for contrast.
Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee is known for her asymmetrical bob, which frames her face and adds a touch of edginess that’s perfect for her personality. “This is also great for round faces,” Monis points out. “Anything that can elongate the face [is good for round faces].”
The Italian Bob on Heart Evangelista
Similar to the classic bob but with a slightly more relaxed feel, the Italian bob is cut longer than chin length with blunt ends and minimal layers. It’s best worn with soft waves or natural curls.
Heart Evangelista has been seen sporting the Italian bob many times. It’s a foolproof way to elevate your style while keeping things effortlessly sophisticated.
The Sleek Bob on BINI Sheena
Essentially like a classic bob, the sleek bob or the slob is cut straight, but done in a more casual and free-flowing way compared to the blunt bob. It’s like the classic bob’s fun little sister—low maintenance and appearing less stiff and structured. BINI Sheena recently sported this chic look.
According to Monis, this is the way to go if you have thin hair, as it creates the illusion of thicker tresses. “The slob creates more texture,” he says. “You still see the structure of a bob, but this gives it another definition, creating more movement.”
