Sometimes, it is the ebbs and flows of change that bring about the most beautiful of circumstances.
For one person, it could be the snipping of the hair, the ends rising higher and higher until the best features are brought out. For another, it could be the switching of shades of makeup—adding color here, blending it more there, until the perfect balance is achieved.
And for others still, beauty comes out in the changing of the guard, in the shifting of roles that allow certain qualities to shine, or certain opportunities to come to the forefront. Such is the case of Vogue Philippines, which has recently undergone a change in leadership, as the title begins a new chapter and prepares to expand its reach to an even wider audience.
The march of change
MEGA Global Group Inc., the publisher of Vogue, Allure, and GQ in the Philippines, has announced that Bea Valdes, who has led Vogue Philippines since its debut in 2022, has now transitioned to the role of Chief Content Officer for the group, while Trickie Lopa, formerly the Deputy Editor for Art and Culture, assumes the role of Editor in Chief.
Valdes will now oversee the editorial direction and creative synergy for Vogue, Allure, and GQ Philippines, guiding the group’s multi-platform experience. “I am honored to take on this responsibility at such a promising and pivotal time for the Philippines, and for Philippine media.” Valdes says. “Our goal is to continue to create a robust, multi-platform experience that celebrates the Filipino spirit through the lenses of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle, championing our dynamic stories of our culture’s evolution and its place in the wider global conversation.”
“We are thrilled to have Bea Valdes at the helm of our broader content strategy while welcoming Trickie Lopa to lead Vogue Philippines,” says Archie Carrasco, Chairman and CEO of MEGA Global Group Inc. “Bea’s unparalleled eye for detail will harmonize our titles, while Trickie’s deep expertise in cultural development and creative advocacy will undoubtedly make Vogue Philippines a source of inspiration for audiences across generations.”
The future in Vogue
Lopa, a pioneering cultural entrepreneur and arts advocate who has led the creation Art Fair Philippines and Art in the Park as co-founder of Philippine Art Events Inc., is also the Founder and Chairman of PHx Fashion Group Inc., an initiative that focuses on educating and elevating emerging Filipino designers to achieve global standards.
It is this beating heart for culture and Filipino identity and this keen eye for artistry, combined with over two decades of experience as a creative that Lopa brings to the table at Vogue Philippines.
“Vogue has always been the ultimate chronicler of the zeitgeist. By integrating a deep appreciation for our unique art and cultural practice with the global fashion standard, we aim to showcase the best of the Filipino spirit to the world,” says Lopa.
Beauty, evolving
Beauty has always been present in the pages of Vogue Philippines, reflecting the many shades, planes, and angles of beauty throughout our islands. And just as our nation evolves, so does the beauty within its pages, spurred on by beautiful transformations at its helm.
