“Beauty should [come from the] inside out,” said AGC Power Holdings Corp. CEO Archie Carrasco on the opening night of the Allure Beauty Lab, Allure Philippines’ inaugural initiative on championing responsible consumption of user-generated content in the current digital beauty landscape.

He continues, “So, when you talk about beauty, you [should] also talk about the senses that come with it.He’s right, after all. If beauty has taught us anything today, it’s that it rarely reveals itself in a single, monolithic manner. Whether through cosmetics or wellness products, in the creator economy, beauty finds a home in glossy magazine photos, in the colors we swatch on the back of our hands, the wellness products we intake, in a viral fragrance launch filling our feeds, or in between the neatly stocked shelves of our favorite beauty retailers.

However, this idea of beauty does not come without its drawbacks. In the same breath, we are also sold desirability and consumption through beautifully packaged products and curated hype. Every announcement arrives with a tedious campaign, every routine comes with a tutorial, and every recommendation is only a search bar away. When beauty has become this easy to consume, what does it actually mean now to experience it?

Allure Philippines editor-in-chief Rissa Mananquil-Trillo says, “At Allure Philippines, we believe user-generated content should be more than aesthetically pleasing—it should be useful, honest, and responsible.”

“That’s one of the reasons we created the Allure Beauty Lab. Rather than designing spaces that simply look beautiful on camera, we wanted to create experiences that encourage people to engage with beauty through all five senses and form their own opinions before sharing them,” Mananquil Trillo explains.

As the beauty experts, this simple question served as the foundation of the first-ever Allure Beauty Lab. More than showcasing products, Allure Philippines wanted to bring to life experiences that invited people to engage with beauty in their own way—and ultimately form their own perspectives on it. Now, as the compact mirror closes on the inaugural beauty lab, we look back at the busiest rooms and how Allure Philippines brought that vision to life.

The Senses Tour

At the heart of the event were five interconnected rooms, each meticulously designed to redefine beauty into a tangible experience. The Senses Tour invited beauty enthusiasts from all walks of life to slow down and engage with beauty through sight, scent, sound, touch, and taste. Missed the event? Glow and Touch

The Senses Tour starts off with the Glow and Touch room. Glow and Touch is composed of 15 interactive luminous balls that respond to a single tap—with each tap prompting the LED orbs to change color, creating an ever-changing display of light coming from inside the balls that illuminate around the room. Beneath them, a mirrored floor amplified the changing lights, creating the illusion of an endless field of reflections.

Spectrum Hall

To the left of the Glow and Touch room is the Spectrum Hall. Created in collaboration with AVOlution Inc., the Spectrum Hall unfolded as a revelation of sight through a diverse array of beauty in every color & shape. A wall of eyeshadow palettes flashed in the LED screens, and alongside it stood an opportunity for guests to see themselves reflected on the walls after taking a picture on the photobooth.

More than a visual spectacle, the Spectrum Hall was one of the few reminders on sight: beauty isn’t confined to a single look, shade, or standard. Here, the eyes were invited to take in the many expressions of beauty—ultimately reflecting one that looked like us.

Scent Space

It’s common knowledge that scents have a unique way of staying with us—that even after a moment has passed, a familiar fragrance has the power to transport us to a familiar place, to a shared experience, or a childhood memory.

Created in collaboration with Filipino niche fragrance house Tadhana, the installation displayed 9 gypsum smelling cubes that were supplied as sensory portals to the Philippine archipelago. Stepping into the fog-filled space invited people to journey through scents inspired by Philippines–fragrances that captured the country’s rich cultural identity, all while introducing a new generation of Filipino perfumers.

Sound Scape

It’d be difficult to find someone today who isn’t looking for ways to destress. While there’s no magic switch for relaxation, research suggests that certain types of sound—such as binaural beats and colored noise—may help influence brain activity associated with focus, calm, and sleep.

Allure Philippines did exactly that—and brought the Sound Scape life. Designed in synergy with Sony and experienced through the brand’s 1000X The Collexionnoise-canceling headphones, the room immersed guests in layered soundscapes inspired by different brainwave states—from calming alpha frequencies, active & alert beta waves, to deeply restorative delta rhythms. More than simply listening, guests were invited to experience how sound can quiet the mind, sharpen focus, and become part of a more intentional beauty ritual.

Potion Room

And at the final leg of the installment was the Potion Room, dedicated to the sense of taste. If skincare is often thought of as what we apply on our skin, this room reminded guests that beauty also begins with what we nourish our bodies with. Wellness shots and nutrient-rich elixirs distributed at free emphasize that healthy habits are just as much a part of a beauty routine as serums and moisturizers.
